Please note that operators like AND, OR, NOT, and TO must be in all caps to work.
More elaborate queries are possible. The query language is described here. The following fields can be searched on:
- body -- the body of the message. This is the default field, and thus is searched if you don't specify a different field
- from -- the sender of the message. This may contain a real name, an email address, or both. For bizarre historical reasons, a small number of messages have no 'from' attached. Note that email addresses are handled as a single term, not split up, so use wildcards if you're only providing a portion of the address.
- subject -- subject of the message. Has not undergone processing to remove Fwd, Re, [FFML] and the like.
- date -- the date the message was received by the list. this date is used instead of the Date header when possible, to avoid problems caused by people's clocks being off. For bizarre historical reasons, some messages have no 'date' attached. The format of the date is YYYY-MM-DD, and the hyphens are required.
